Authorities searching for a Texas woman who disappeared on Christmas Eve found a body and a gun in a field near her home, authorities said Tuesday.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told reporters it was unclear whether the person was 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos.
He said that although the medical examiner has not determined the cause and manner of death, authorities do not suspect foul play and that the man may have died from self-harm.
“We’re hopeful that we can try to speed up that process so that the community can get the answers that everyone is waiting for,” Salazar said.

Salazar said the body was found in a field about 100 yards from Olmos’ home, which authorities had previously searched for.
Salazar said that because of the long brush — and with the help of a “small army” of FBI agents — he decided to search the area again Tuesday.
He said that the body was found about 10 minutes after the search started. He told that the gun was found nearby.
Olmos was last seen leaving her home in northwestern Bexar County on the morning of December 24. Olmos’ mother told NBC News that her daughter usually went for a morning walk but did not return on December 24.
