In a very touching moment which was like a fairy tale for cricket fans across India, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, one of the most talked-about young talents of the country, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pictures of their meeting went viral on social media in no time. It was an acknowledgment on top of an extraordinary year for a player who has already broken several old records in Indian cricket.
A proud milestone for Indian cricket’s youngest sensation
Suryavanshi traveled to New Delhi to receive the Prime Minister’s National Child Award, the highest civilian award for youth aged five to eighteen, and which was given to her by President Draupadi Murmu. The award recognizes exceptional performance in sports, creativity, arts and social work and Vaibhav has become the first cricketer to receive it, reflecting the remarkable pace of his rise.
