Fans who want a dose of Vaibhav Suryavanshi will now have to wait a little longer. After bursting onto the scene at the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 and making a stellar entry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the 14-year-old batsman has now been asked to opt out of the competition, but for a reason that is disappointing.

Vaibhav’s record breaking 190

The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season began on December 24 and Vaibhav was soon in the news. In his first match for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh, the left-handed opening batsman played one of the most incredible innings ever seen in List A cricket.

Vaibhav played a stormy innings of 190 runs in just 84 balls, due to which the bowlers were surprised and the records were spoiled. His innings included an astonishing knock of reaching 150 off just 59 balls, breaking the world record held by AB de Villiers for the fastest 150 in List A cricket. This performance took Bihar’s total to 574 runs and won the match in no time, putting Vaibhav in the spotlight as the most talked about player in the tournament.

Why did Vaibhav leave the tournament?

Despite such a great start, Vaibhav will not play the remaining matches for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy League. Such a decision did not go unnoticed and the reason for this is indeed very special. This young wonderful child has been honored with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award.

The award will be presented by the President of India Draupadi Murmu on Friday, December 26 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. As part of the programme, he will also meet Prime Minister Modi. To reach this remarkable occasion, he traveled to Delhi immediately after Bihar’s first match.
