In the new year, the shine of Vijay Hazare Trophy is going to increase even more on the strength of star players. The Indian team’s star batsmen Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are set to feature in the domestic 50-over competition with the national team, which will prepare for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand next month. Cricbuzz claims to have verified that these athletes have already informed their state associations about their participation in the VHT as a way of honoring their mandatory domestic commitments.

Gill and Jadeja set to take part in limited Vijay Hazare Trophy ahead of national duty

Punjab will face Sikkim and Goa, in which Gill will be part of the team, in Jaipur on January 3 and 6. Gill, who is the Test and ODI captain, will be seen playing for Punjab in the next two matches. Punjab is now placed fourth in the rankings in Group C with 2 wins from 3 matches against giants Mumbai. After this, he will have to leave the state team and join the national team, which is expected to assemble in Baroda for the first ODI (January 11) against New Zealand on January 7-8.

Reports suggest that Jadeja has informed the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) about his participation in the matches against Services and Gujarat on January 6 and 8. The current scenario is that Saurashtra team is playing its league matches in Aloor, Karnataka. Of the three matches, they have won one and hence are sixth in the eight-team group, which also includes Rishabh Pant’s Delhi team.

Rahul likely to play for Karnataka, Jaiswal ready for Mumbai match

Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) could not decide which matches Rahul is going to take part in, but as per the report by Cricbuzz, there is a strong possibility that he will take part in the matches against Tripura and Rajasthan on January 3 and 6 in Ahmedabad. Currently, Karnataka is second in Group A with three consecutive wins and hence has a perfect win record of 100%.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced that Yashasvi Jaiswal has reached Jaipur and is likely to be present for the match between Mumbai and Goa on Wednesday (December 31). The youngster fell ill for some time and missed the first three matches, but the left-hander could be available for the match against Goa. Mumbai tops Group C with three wins.

Star lineup is seen following BCCI rules in domestic cricket

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are among the most prominent international players to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) for their local cricket, with the Indian superstar being the only player missing from the international roster. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has legislated this partnership, and Bumrah is an exception to the rule as the BCCI is not trying to tire the leader of the country’s bowling attack too much.

Kohli has been in action for two matches and is expected to make his presence felt in the January 6 game, where Pant will captain Delhi. The wicketkeeper-batsman has confirmed his availability for all Delhi VHT matches.
