Austin Theory believes that CM Punk intends to go the John Cena route in the near future as he touched on the possibility of a retirement tour in WWE after Cena’s 2025 tour. Theory has officially become one of The Vision and therefore the archenemy of The Best in the World by default. Last week he and Bronson Reed won a tag team match against CM Punk and Rey Mysterio.
The former United States Champion had a singles match this week with The Master of 619, which unfortunately turned out to be an ambush against him. However, The Vision was forced to retreat due to the return of Penta.
Theory puts retirement tours on hold after Cena’s success
Austin Theory talked about the status of a retirement tour during the Raw recap, saying that now that it has proven successful with John Cena, such a tour would be possible. While remaining in his heel persona, Theory was appalled by the Giants being so “ego-hungry” that he wanted a full year to say goodbye to the fans and thus step back into the spotlight.
At 28, Theory is among the newcomers who are believed to be able to take the company to a new level. He is not thrilled that every old player gets the same farewell as Big Match John. He was curious if Penta would also get one soon, having mocked him following the ex-AEW star’s involvement in The Vision’s affair last Monday.
Theory takes aim at WWE’s growing retirement tour trend
“Yeah, it’s funny you said retirement tour, and CM Punk is saying he’s not ready to go – maybe he’s advocating for his retirement tour, because I think they all just want a retirement tour, you know? But come on, you have to go – we have to say goodbye to you for a year? How long is that? How ridiculous is this? How ego-hungry are you?
You’re a great guy, and we’ll have to say goodbye to you on Monday, maybe Friday, definitely at PLE, definitely at WrestleMania, and then maybe, we’ll do a big show about you! do you know what I mean? This is madness. This is madness. What, Ray gets one? Punk gets one? Is AJ Styles going to get one? What, is Penta going to get one? What are we doing?” Austin Theory said.
Chaos expected as Vision targets Punk on Netflix Raw
Meanwhile, The Vision’s Braun Breaker will face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on January 5, 2026. This date also marks the first anniversary of Raw’s presence on Netflix. By that time, it wouldn’t be surprising if Austin Theory, along with the rest of the heel faction, caused an upset during the main event.
