The mini auction for IPL 2026 was held in Abu Dhabi on 16 December in the year 2025. It was a day of great contrasts for Australian cricket. On one hand, Kolkata Knight Riders broke records by paying Rs 25.20 crore for all-rounder Cameron Green, becoming the most expensive foreign recruit in the history of the league. However, on the other hand, the mini-auction proved to be a reality check on one of the hottest youngsters in the world in Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Contrary to his nickname of the “Human Highlight Reel”, 23-year-old Fraser-McGurk could not get a single offer. He entered the bidding process with a starting price of Rs 2 crore but remained unsold, leaving everyone stunned. This is even more surprising considering his credentials, and this is the same McGurk who holds the world record for scoring a century in 29 balls in List A matches, which he achieved in the 2023 Marsh Cup match against Tasmania.
Fastest century in List A cricket
Records were once again shattered during the 2025-26 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Bihar captain Sakibul Ghani stunned India’s domestic cricket circuit by scoring a century in just 32 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.
Although Ghani broke the national record for scoring a century in the shortest time in an Indian innings, he is still behind the international standard of Fraser-McGurk.
